DATA MODUL: LCD controller boards on show at electronica

DATA MODUL's self-developed controller board series eMotion was specially designed for industrial requirements. Beyond all trends, long term availability, quality and stability remain the basic requirements for professional applications. According to the customer´s needs the various scaler boards of the eMotion family are realized with a variety of video inputs (DisplayPort 1.1, 1.2, VGA(RGB), DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI, CVBS/YC). Apart from standard TFTs with single/dual channel LVDS input and resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 pixels, panels can also be controlled with quad channel LVDS, eDP (8 lanes), V-BY-One (8 lanes) and resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 (UHD). Special features of the high-end boards, such as DDC/CI support, OSD via RS232, Picture-in-Picture (PiP), Picture-by-Picture (PBP) and Frame Rate Converter (FRC), enable low cost integration into demanding monitor applications. Furthermore, ambient light and proximity sensors, as well as a “Daisy Chain” function for video wall applications can be integrated.

In the embedded area, for instance, there is an increasing demand for monitor solutions with as few as possible interfaces. With the eMotion USB TYPE C with alternate mode, DATA MODUL reduced the I/O to one cable, and therefore allows flat, stylish and easy to integrate monitor solutions.

For the ongoing trend of ever higher resolutions (UHD/4k), DATA MODUL developed the eMotion UHD some time ago, and is now introducing an upgrade with the UHD II. The UHD II can now be supplied with 2x HDMI2.0 and 2xDP1.2 video inputs, supports 3840x2160@60Hz at all inputs and has also integrated both, PIP and PBP functionalities.

As audio outputs, one analog HP output (connection for analog, active speaker) and one internal, digital I2S connection for an active audio amplifier (e.g. the DATA MODUL “Digital Audio-Board”) are available. The support of Ambient Light Control (ALC) was once again optimized. This means that the backlight brightness can automatically be adjusted to the ambient light conditions. The Firmware is updated easily via a USB stick. In the industrial version, a temperature dependent fan control is implemented.

The UHD II and all other boards of the eMotion series are available as a complete LCD controller board kit including all components (cable, converter, power supply and OSD board). Also available are budget compliant versions. UHDII will be on display at electronica.
