The company was founded by Dipl. Ing. Günther Scholz as an engineering office in 1990. In 1994 he specialized in electronic devices to control graphic displays in an easy and inexpensive way (DCU-concept). One of the first products – the DCUL3  – is still produced with about 6000 pieces per year right until this day (starting from March 2006 even conforming to ROHS). Many more pin-compatible products have been added to the DCU product line since then.

About 50% of the F&S products are used in the medical area, like lung ventilation (anesthetic and intensive care), shock wave lithotripsy (kidney stone fragmentation), medical endoscopes, medical lasers (dental and optical), UV-therapy, bio-feedback systems, and blood pressure measurement. Among the industrial applications are machine control, laser welding, info panels in buildings (with IE or video playback), POS systems, clock-boxes, industrial ovens, ticket vending machines, entrance control systems, engine control, GPS navigation in commercial vehicles, and even naval applications.Many well-known customers in Germany and Europe are convinced by F&S products, which is reflected in a commercial increase of 20-30% per year.

In 1996 the company’s name changed to F&S Elektronik Systeme GmbH as Dipl. Ing. Holger Frölich joined the management. A big milestone was the start of the own production of electronic devices in the year 1998. 100% of the F&S products are “Made in Germany” and are manufactured in Stuttgart-Vaihingen on the most modern production facilities. Every device leaving F&S is tested by function (with display, touch, …) and is subject to a strong quality test (ISO 9001).

The first product of an additional new family of Single Board Computers with Windows CE was the NetDCU2 , created in the year 2000. Since then, this successful product line was regularly augmented by one or two new boards every year. Long-term availability (5 years and more), robustness, reliability, scalability and an extraordinary customer support have brought the F&S products successfully into many industrial and medical applications.

Modern machines, production facilities, instrumentation and control systems provide more and more and still more complex data and information which must be monitored and checked. For the optical display of these measured values, machine data and operating states F&S has developed a completely new visualizing solution which is more efficient than the present systems. Display systems by F&S the so called Display Controller Units (DCU) are operating only in full graphic mode and can display simultaneously text and dynamically redifinable graphics.
Display Systems by F&S are efficient, flexible and cost effective.

The Display Controllers of F&S possess all components for realization of a graphic control unit: interface for matrix/PC keyboard, universal LCD output, system interface parallel or RS232, input for temperature sensor.
