The efficiency, reliability and safety of modern lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicle drives and hybrid drives strongly depend on the battery management system. For the detection of unwanted deep discharges or algorithm-related fault currents of the batteries, a combination of battery cell simulator and leakage current measurement is needed. It is crucial that each cell can be considered individually. Now, the innovation of comemso is the high-precision battery cell simulator (BCS) for up to 120 cells in 3rd generation. This simulator allows the complete functional testing of a BMS in combination with a highly accurate quiescent current measuring unit. The internal source can be up to 5V by a nominal current of 3A using an accuracy of 1 mV.
For active and passive balancing the internal rated sink current can be up to 2A at an accuracy of 100μA per cell. The comemso BCS has the whole accuracy directly at the BMS system, even after 3m cable length. All parameters can be set in the high-voltage range up to 600V. For the additional analysis of leakage or quiescent current measurements, the comemso BCS supports an accuracy of 1 μA on each cell. Now with this market innovation unwanted discharges of individual cells or the whole batteries can be directly detected.
The overheating of a battery represents a high safety risk. Therefore the comemso BCS includes also highly accurate temperature simulation modules. The electrical fault simulation per cell completes all functional tests of the BMS. The battery cells simulator of comemso combines a highly accurate simulation and measurement technology. A separate feature of this system is that the customer itself is able to calibrate the system on a smart way. The simulator is used for development and testing of advanced battery management systems for modern vehicle series. The complete system with up to 120 cells is located in a space-saving 19 " rack with the dimensions 55x185x65cm.
