MSC presents five new members of Atmel´s 32-bit AVR UC3L Series of microcontrollers. The AVR UC3 L is part of Atmel’s picoPower 32-bit microcontroller series. This series is ideal for portable consumer and battery-powered applications, board controllers, game pads, remote controls, and human interface devices. The AVR UC3 L Series consumes down to 165 µA/MHz in active mode, down to 600 nA with RTC running, and down to 9 nA in deep-sleep mode. picoPower devices offer true 1.62V operation, allowing all analog modules, oscillators and Flash to be fully functional without compromise at 1.62V. The AT32UC3L’s built-in capacitive touch peripheral unit makes capacitive touch as easy as using just another peripheral. The device supports capacitive touch buttons and sliders. The hardware support enables the addition of capacitive touch to the application at no additional software overhead. The capacitive touch hardware also allows the microcontroller to wake from sleep on touch.
The AT32UC3L introduces Atmel’s Peripheral Event System for the first time on a 32-bit microcontroller. The innovative peripheral event system allows peripherals to send signals (events) directly to other peripherals without involving the CPU. By offloading the repetitive task of forwarding these events to the Peripheral Event System, the CPU will drastically minimize the time-consuming handling of interrupts. This will free up more time for the CPU to handle other tasks in the application, and often allows the CPU to remain longer in one of the AVR32’s many energy-saving sleep modes. The AVR32 UCL3U and UCL4U Series offer USB device support. The transceiver is integrated into the device and supports both full-speed and low-speed modes of the USB 2.0 specification as well as built-in pull-ups and pull-downs. Atmel expands the memory option of the 48-pin UC3L0 with 128kB and 256kB of Flash. These new devices have both 32kB SRAM. The new UCL4U devices are pin-compatible with the existing UC3L0 devices. Soon UCL3U devices with 64-pins will arrive with additional I2S audio interface and streaming audio DAC. STK600 Starter kit, ATUC3L-EK Evaluation kit and low cost UC3L0 Xplained kit offers a broad range of hardware platforms to start own applications.
