With its GSM / GPRS modules Quectel addresses typical embedded applications. These are characterized by the fact that relatively small junks of data are transmitted in wider time spans. Looking at the n speeds of GSM and GPRS the transmission of 100 bytes to a few kBytes is usually done within a few seconds only. The advantage of these cellular systems lies in their worldwide availability and their almost complete local coverage. Quectel’s GSM / GPRS M-series technically shines with very low power consumption, support of GPRS class 12 and therefore a fast uplink, the scalable support of TCP/IP protocols and the availability of interfaces such as USB, camera, SD card and many more. A further advantage is the support of the full industrial temperature range from -40 to +85°C – very often being the weak point of GSM / GPRS modules.
