Atlantik Elektronik introduces the new Quectel M95 GSM/GPRS quad-band module – an ideal solution for the M2M market. The module will be most widely used in applications such as track&trace, meter reading or POS. The cellular modem is optimized in all of its features exactly for this market and its embedded applications. The M95 allows voice and data communication, offers a compact form factor of only 9.9 x 23.6 x 2.65mm and shines with excellent performance characteristics. For fastest data transmission from the module to the Internet the M95 will use GPRS-Multi-Slot-Class 12 mode. This way upload speeds of up to 85.6 kbit/s can be reached.
The current draw in sleep mode goes down to an unparalleled 0.9 mA@DRx=5. On top, additional features like the integrated AB class audio amplifier bring added value to the customer. Especially for applications in an industrial environment the support of the complete temperature range from -40 to +85°C is of importance.
Two UART interfaces make it easy to control and transmit in parallel and a variety of internet protocols fulfill the requirements of many M2M applications: TCP/IP, UDP, FTP and PPP are already implemented on the module. The applications range from mobile vehicle tracking systems or people, pets and goods surveillance to electric, gas or water meters to typical vending machines or payment terminals.
