Holtek: low speed USB 8-bit OTP MCUs

Holtek released its new Low Speed USB MCU, the HT82B42R/HT82B42RE. The HT82B42R and the previously released HT82B40R belong to the same series and are both Low Speed USB 8-bit OTP MCUs. The HT82B42R is specially designed for applications that require package pin counts of less than 20-pin. With a reduced number of I/O pins and an additional SPI, the HT82B42R can be used for flexible applications in the low pin count PC peripheral area, such as USB Dongles and USB Bridges, etc.

The HT82B42R is compatible with USB 2.0 specifications and has an operating voltage of 3.3V to 5.5V and an operating temperature of -40 to +85℃ thus meeting with industrial specifications. The system frequency is 6MHz or 12MHz using an internal oscillator which greatly reduces the need for external components. The HT82B42R includes a 4Kx15 OTP ROM, a 160 Byte RAM, a Low Speed USB interface, 3 endpoints, up to 15 bidirectional I/Os, an 8-bit Timer, a 16-bit Timer, an SPI interface in addition to an internal regulator with an output of 3.3V which can also be used by peripheral applications. It is supplied in three package types, namely 16-pin NSOP, 20-pin SSOP and 20-pin QFN. The HT82B42RE includes an integrated 128-bit I2C interface type EEPROM, in which the MCU can store data. It is provided in a 4x4 mm 20-pin QFN package to meet the demands of small PCB areas.

To support this new device, Holtek supplies a full suite of hardware and software tools which include a Windows based software development system environment, known as the HT-IDE3000. With an In-Circuit-Emulator, full trace analysis functions as well as different application guides, these functions provide designers with all the tools they need for rapid and efficient product application development and debug.
