Yamaichi: flip-type ZIF plug connector series for stricter requirements

Yamaichi Electronics is expanding its portfolio with a comprehensive flip-type ZIF plug connector series for FFC/FPC. The HF601 series is a zero-force FFC connector with a pitch of 0.5mm, which provides a large number of variants to combine plug reliability and variability. The ZIF connector features a wide-opening flap into which a standard FFC/FPC can easily be inserted. The interlock is engaged by pressing the flap closed with a clearly audible click. The HF601 offers the additional feature of being shaped in such a way that it is capable of accepting FFCs with "ears". This provides some security against the FFC being pulled out.

There is a horizontal variant with 10, 20, 26, 30, 40, 45, 50, or 60 pins. This version features a particularly low installation height of 2mm. Of course, Yamaichi also offers the appropriate alternatives in a vertical type. The pin counts available are 30, 40, 45 and 50. A special feature of these two variants is the shape of the contacts and their gold plating, which guarantee transmission rates of 700Mbps to 1 Gbps. This is a clear distinction from conventional ZIF connectors, which offer only about 50% of this performance. The highlight and third area of the series is the high-speed connector in horizontal form with 22 pins, which can transmit up to 3Gbps at a stable impedance of 100 ohms (+/- 10%). This is ensured by switching to ground between each pair of signal contacts. This connector can be used as an HDMI interface, for example. All versions of the HF601 series are available in T&R packaging and can be loaded in an SMT process. As a system supplier, Yamaichi also offers appropriate cables for all variants, e.g. normal FFC or high-performance FPC.
