Sundance has introduced the SMT105, a PCIe/104 Type 2 card with integrated dual Fibre Optical Transceivers. The latest addition to the Sundance’s line of PCIe/104 modules enables PC/104 stacks to be connected to each other or to other data sources via the duplex fibre interface. The fibre connection supports transfers of 100 meters at 4Gbit per second or/and 500 meters at 1Gbit per second. The SMT105 includes 256Mbytes of buffer storage, a USB2.0 interface, a microSD slot, multiple RS232-C transceivers and more than 100 LVDS I/O pins for customer specific interfaces. The SMT105 is designed to operate in a host-free, stand-alone environment for more deployment options. Linux support is available for the on-board PowerPC 440 core.
Typical applications for the SMT105 involve high-speed data acquisition where the data collection may be in a remote location or a hazardous environment and the SMT105 will transfer the collected data via fibre to a host computer. The SMT105 has a dual SATA interface to enable local backup should the transmission link be interrupted or overflow.
