The RIO6-8092/93 represents the latest generation of high-performance advanced I/O VME SBCs offered by Creative Electronic Systems. It has been specifically designed as a ready-to-use off-the-shelf solution for data acquisition, processing and distribution in demanding aerospace and defense applications, such as mission control, video and radar processing.
The RIO6-8092/93 combines a single or multi-core processor with an optional user FPGA and two PMC/XMC sites, in a traditional VME64x form-factor. Interconnect flexibility and performance is
achieved with a PCIe Gen2 switch and a FlexIO static routing module that allows easy customization of all user interfaces on the backplane. Available in both commercial air-cooled (RIO6-8093) and conduction-cooled (RIO6-8092) versions, it meets the requirements of a broad range of commercial and military applications. The RIO6-8092/93 features a Freescale QorIQ P2 processor designed for combined control and data plane processing. The processor design is well suited for applications that are highly compute-intensive, I/O intensive, or both. The FlexIO static routing module allows easy adaptation to different backplane interface requirements, supporting both PCIe and GbE as well as legacy PCI over the backplane connectors.
A Board Management Controller is also integrated, providing high-speed system status monitoring, logging and dynamic reload (processor and FPGA) functions in real-time for exceptional mission back-up strategies for the entire system. A Rear I/O Transition Module is available to assist in early development with the RIO6-8092/93, providing access to the control plane and upstream data ports.
